Holy Spirit Insight
For much of my life, I searched for peace.
I thought peace would come when life became easier.
When people treated me better.
When relationships improved.
When the pain stopped.
When the questions were answered.
When the future felt secure.
When circumstances finally lined up the way I hoped.
But peace never came that way.
Because peace was never meant to come from circumstances.
Peace comes from God.
And that lesson took me years to learn.
There was a time when fear followed me everywhere.
The wounds from childhood.
The abuse.
The rejection.
The uncertainty.
The disappointments.
The heartbreak.
Even after becoming a Christian, there were nights when I lay awake for hours.
Thinking.
Worrying.
Replaying conversations.
Trying to solve problems I could not solve.
Trying to carry burdens that were crushing my heart.
I loved God.
I trusted God.
But my faith was still growing.
I was trying to create peace with my own understanding.
The harder I tried, the more exhausted I became.
The Storm on the Sea
One of the most remarkable stories in Scripture is when Jesus slept during a storm.
The disciples were terrified.
The wind was raging.
The waves were crashing.
Everything around them screamed danger.
Yet Jesus slept peacefully.
Why?
Because His peace was not connected to the storm.
His peace was connected to His Father.
The disciples wanted Jesus to calm the storm.
Jesus first addressed their fear.
Because sometimes the greatest miracle is not the storm changing.
It is the heart remaining steady while the storm is still blowing.
That is a lesson God has been teaching me for years.
Trying to Create Peace
For a long time, I thought peace came from control.
If I planned enough.
Prepared enough.
Analyzed enough.
Protected myself enough.
Maybe then I could feel safe.
But every attempt to control life left me more tired.
Because the truth is:
I was never meant to carry that responsibility.
God never asked me to control tomorrow.
He only asked me to trust Him with it.
The peace I was searching for could not be manufactured.
It could not be earned.
It could not be created.
It could only be received.
What Changed
Life still brings challenges.
I still face heartbreak.
I still encounter disappointments.
I still walk through seasons that stretch my faith.
But something has changed.
The older I get, the more I know God's character.
The more I know His faithfulness.
The more I know His presence.
Recently, before going to bed, I found myself reflecting on Hebrews 11.
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
— Hebrews 11:1
As I sat quietly, I thought about Abraham.
God asked him to leave everything familiar and walk toward a future he could not see.
Abraham did not have all the answers.
He did not know every detail.
He simply trusted the God who called him.
Then I thought about Noah.
Year after year he built an ark before there was any visible evidence of rain.
People likely questioned him.
Mocked him.
Doubted him.
Yet Noah continued because his confidence was not in what he saw.
His confidence was in God.
As I reflected on their stories, I realized how much my own journey has changed.
Years ago, similar concerns would have kept me awake all night.
I would have worried.
I would have replayed every possible outcome.
I would have carried burdens that belonged to God.
I would have searched desperately for answers before allowing myself to rest.
But over the years, faith has taught me something beautiful.
Peace does not come from having all the answers.
Peace comes from trusting God when answers have not yet arrived.
That night, the circumstances had not changed.
The questions were still there.
The challenges still existed.
But the Holy Spirit gently settled my heart.
And I rested peacefully.
Not because I understood everything.
But because I trusted the One who does.
Faith has taught me that God is already present in tomorrow.
And because He is there, I can rest today.
Paul's Secret
Paul wrote many of his letters from prison.
Not from comfort.
Not from luxury.
Not from ideal circumstances.
From prison.
Yet he repeatedly spoke about peace.
Joy.
Contentment.
Why?
Because Paul discovered something many people never learn.
Peace is not found in circumstances.
Peace is found in Christ.
When your peace depends on circumstances, it comes and goes.
When your peace depends on Christ, it remains.
What Spiritual Growth Looks Like
Spiritual growth is not reaching a place where problems disappear.
Spiritual growth is reaching a place where God's presence becomes more real than your problems.
It is learning to trust His heart when you cannot understand His plans.
It is learning to rest when fear wants to run.
It is learning to sleep while God stays awake.
It is discovering that peace is not something you achieve.
It is Someone you receive.
His name is Jesus.

• What am I trying to control that belongs to God?
• Where have I been searching for peace outside of God's presence?
• What fear continues to steal my rest?
• How has God already shown Himself faithful in similar situations?
Action Steps
1. Name the Burden
Write down the one thing that is stealing your peace right now.
2. Surrender It
Pray:
"Lord, this burden belongs in Your hands, not mine."
3. Receive His Peace
Before bed tonight, slowly read Hebrews 11:1 and reflect on one area where God is asking you to trust Him before you can see the outcome.
Sit quietly in His presence and allow Him to steady your heart.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for being the source of peace.
Forgive me for the times I have tried to create peace through control, worry, or my own understanding.
Teach me to trust You more deeply.
Teach me to rest in Your presence.
Teach me to release what I cannot control.
When fear rises, remind me of Your faithfulness.
When uncertainty comes, remind me of Your promises.
Help me develop the kind of faith that trusts You even when I cannot see what lies ahead.
When life feels overwhelming, help me remember that true peace is not something I create.
It is something You give.
Thank You for being my refuge, my strength, and my peace.
